WILFRID VINCENT It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wilfrid Vincent into the hands of the Lord with his family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Paul, Edmond, Archie and Michael; his two daughters, Irene and Marie; also his companion Gertrude Cote. Dad was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Trevor, Daniel, Andrea, Lisa, Jessica, Shanel, Natalie, Kristin, Jay and Christopher; as well as great-grandchildren, Emily, Julia and Avory. Also left to mourn are two brothers, Philippe (Denise) and Victor (Rose) two sisters, Bella (Art) and Jeanne; as well as many nieces and nephews, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law. Wilfrid was predeceased by his parents, Fortunat and Marie-Louise; brothers, Oscar and Omer; and by sisters, Aldea, Antoinette and Maria; and in infancy, Joseph, Fernand, Marie and Marie-Antoinette. Dad was born February 9, 1922 in St. Georges, MB. He did some travelling in his younger years. He was called into the army in 1940. His active duty was in France, Holland and Belgium. Wilfrid was sent home in 1945. Dad later married Therese Dupont in 1948. He worked for the Manitoba Paper Company and was a truck driver for Modern Dairies and for R.C. Owen Transfer. He became the custodian of the Powerview School and was held with great respect as the man with all the keys, walking down the hall until his retirement in 1987. Wilfrid was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many good times were spent with Omer Vincent on trips and in his store. Happy Lake held great moments for him fishing with Rene Papineau. Wilfrid resided in Winnipeg Manor and was a member of the Silver Haven Club where he enjoyed playing pool. Wilfrid was a member of the Pine Falls Legion. To the family and friends that have shared his life he leaves cherished memories. As his comrades would say, "Wilf had an answer for everything." Many thanks to Dr. Oelofse and the medical staff for their kindness and support and to Dr. Van Zyl for all his caring and patience. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. from the St. George Parish Church, St. Georges with Fr. Belanger officiating. Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery. DAD You were always there when we needed you. No task was too great or small. With a loving heart and willing hand for us you did them all. Thanks for the years you gave us And the precious times we shared. We only pray that when you left Us, you knew how much we cared.
