MICHAEL DENNIS GREEN It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael Green on Friday, August 10, 2001, at the age of 80. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Joan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion and James Garson; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Green and Winnifred Green; brother Homer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Michael was predeceased by his mother and father, Jennie and Patrick; sister Eleanor; and brothers, Thomas, John, and Connie. Michael enjoyed sports - golf, curling, and bowling, as well as his many trips south. As a student he played quarterback for the St. Pauls Crusaders (known for his drop kick as kindly written by Vince Leah). Academically, he graduated from St. Pauls with the Governor-Generals Medal. He attended the University of Manitoba obtaining his B.Sc. and B.Eng. Electrical, with a tour of duty in between as Electrical Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945. Michael joined the MTS in 1950 and held many positions, retiring as Chief Engineer in 1983. A celebration of Michaels life will take place on Thursday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Sturgeon Creek United Church.
