RUTH ERLANDSON (nee DELAINE) Peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2001, at Riverview Health Centre, Ruth Erlandson passed away at the age of 80. Ruth was predeceased by infant daughter Delaine, husband Bruce, brother John (Jack) Delaine, and sister June Bonnett. Remaining to celebrate her life and to honour her memory are son Jay (Darlene) Erlandson; daughter Jody Erlandson; grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, and Karen; brother Bernard Delaine of Kitchener, ON; sister Connie (John) Cook of Lethbridge, AB; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ruth grew up in Winnipeg and spent the war years as a telephone operator and radio announcer in Flin Flon. Returning to Winnipeg, she took up a career in writing for radio and advertising. She married Bruce in 1954 and soon retired to raise a family. Widowed in 1970, Ruth returned to Winnipeg and resumed her career as a copywriter with McLeod-Gamble and Eatons, later branching out into retail sales at Boes, Ltd. Ruth delighted in music, babies, and animals, and was a staunch Blue Bomber fan to the end. Her personal style and good taste, plus her sense of humour and quick wit, were admired by all who knew her. She maintained friendships, some for over 50 years, and was deeply devoted to her family. Indeed, she was not only mother, sister, cousin and aunt, but also our best friend. We deeply appreciate the compassionate care provided by the staffs at Grace Hospital and Riverview Health Centre. Cremation has taken place. As she wished, no formal service will be held. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories and memories on Friday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Rd. (just west of St. Marys Road). Memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, The Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Association. WERESCHUK FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0929
