ALEXANDER RUSSELL PATERSON 1920 - 2001 With great sadness we announce the passing of Alex on August 12, 2001, with his family by his side after his courageous battle with cancer. Alex was predeceased by his father and mother, Alex and Ethel; and his brothers, Ed and Jim. Alex leaves to mourn his loving wife Edna; daughters, Cheryl (Ken), Valorie (Marcy) sons, Don (Joan), Ken (Marj), and Tom; grandchildren, Dustin, Lee, Dina, Ryan, Sean; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alex was a loving husband, father, grand-father, and friend. He had a great sense of humour and was always the host with the most at all gatherings, especially at the farm. He always lived life to the fullest. Alex grew up in Winnipeg and served overseas in the Air Force during the Second World War. He later operated Paterson Florists and a greenhouse business in Headingley, where he resided for over 50 years. He enjoyed travelling extensively with his wife in the winter months, including trips to Mesa, AZ, where he made many friends. Alex was a special man and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Grace Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Harris and the Salvation Army Chaplains. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 16 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, with a reception for family and friends to follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
