Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERBERT (HEBBI) BJARNASON It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father and afi, Hebbi Bjarnson, on Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at the Betel Home, Gimli at the age of 89 years. Herbert was born on January 31, 1912, Gimli and had lived there all his life. He was predeceased by his wife Thura and two infant daughters; his brothers, Bill, John, Joe, and Donnie; and sisters, Vicki, Alda, and Goody. Dad was a commercial fisherman on Lake Winnipeg for 65 years. Hebbi fished 63 seasons at Georges Island. Dad also fished for 30 years with his son Richard. Dad both loved and feared the lake, but above all respected it. Dad always said the best days of his life were when he and his wife Thura spent the winter at Bushy Point. Dad liked to reminisce about the old days and talked fondly about his husky dogs. Dad had a passion for reading like most Icelandic people. Dad also loved doing crossword puzzles and watching his grandchildren opening scratch tickets. Dad also loved to watch the parade on Icelandic Weekend. Dad especially enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas with Mom. Everyone who knew Hebbi and would say hi to him would always get his special hello back. Herbert leaves to mourn his four children, Herbert (Irma), Jona (Reg), Richard (Sheila), Diane (Jack) grandchildren, Lori, Jason, Garth, Krista, Jodi, Corey, Rich, Racheal, Mike; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Soren; sisters, Anna, Inga, Norma; brothers-in-law, Don, Jim; as well as many nieces and nephews. We, the family, would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Betel staff for their kindness to Dad, also to Dr. R.C. Patel. Cremation has taken place. No formal service by request. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to The Betel Foundation of Gimli, MB. Goda Nott Pabbi (Well meet again) Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
