CAROLINE MARGARET BRISCOE (TELLIER) (nee ALEXANDER) July 24, 1935 - August 13, 2001 On Monday afternoon at the Grace Hospital after a battle with cancer, Caroline, beloved wife of Raymond Bruce Briscoe, mother of Brigitte, Simone and Andre Tellier and faithful pal "Luc", passed away. Caroline is survived by her brother Donald "Spike" Alexander and sister Irene Winnifred (David) Johnson; Aunt Margaret Millard; Uncle Captain Ernie (Evelyn) Waller; grandchildren, Joshua Parisien, Rebecca Tellier, James and Chantal Gosnell; step-children, Sharon (Jim) Baigent, Colin Briscoe; step-grandson Graham Baigent. Caroline was predeceased by her mother (1968) father (1972) and infant sister Donna (1939). Caroline was born July 24, 1935 in Winnipeg to Winnifred Elizabeth (Waller) and Donald Alexander, who were also born in Winnipeg. Caroline led a very full life. She was enrolled at Florette McQuaigs School of Dance at 3 years old and performed solos at Pantages Theatre. While in grade 6 at Principal Sparling School, she won an Art Competition sponsored by the City of Winnipeg and also won Swimming Competitions in inter-school matches. She took accordion lessons from Lowe Music School and performed solos as well as band performances at Pantages Theatre. After completing Junior High, she attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute. After graduation she was a secretary at Cockshutt Farm Equipment for two years and bowled in the Implement League connected with the company for the next ten years. After leaving Cockshutt Farm Equipment she was hired as office manager at McCallum Transport. She was married to Denis Tellier in 1961. She stayed home for eight years to be with her children during which time she volunteered as Brown Owl Assistant at Brownies, Manager of Soccer, Hockey, Ringette, and Fast Pitch teams. She also volunteered at various levels at Crestview Community Club including Bay Captain Convenor, Teen Dance Co-Convenor, Secretary, and Ringette Convenor. In 1976 she returned to work as Executive Secretary for the Manitoba Golf Association until 1983, then several sports within the Manitoba Sports Federation. In 1986 she worked as Executive Secretary for Softball Manitoba. In 1988 she married Raymond Briscoe. She retired in July 1995 as Administrative Assistant for Softball Manitoba. In her leisure time she enjoyed time at the cottage in Matlock, sewing, creating and knitting original sweater patterns for family, sketching, prize winning baking recipes, cooking, casino visits, the Saturday crossword puzzle, gardening, visiting with friends and family, and attending sports and dramatic and musical performances by her multi-talented children and grandchildren of whom she was so very proud. A very special person has left us, but she has left us with a lifetime of beautiful memories. Always there to lend a helping hand, listen, and smile. She touched the lives of every one she met. She will be greatly missed and always loved by those who knew her. Carolines parting words to family and friends: "Ive had a wonderful life. Thanks for the support and love of Ray, Brigitte, Simone, Andre, Josh, Rebecca, James, Chantal, Hazel, Cheryl, Gord, Bonnie, Audrey, Joan, Gail and all my family and friends. Extra thanks to Brigitte who took me to Reno where we had extra bonding time and enjoyed the trip immensely. Special thanks to Dr. Gary Schroeder and the Radiation technicians at Cancer Care and my V.O.N. Catherine Napier for the extra time I had to share with family and friends. Thank you to the nurses and staff on 4 South and 4 West at the Grace Hospital. I hope the girls will continue to meet at Carmellas for an occasional Saturday morning and share many fond memories." Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and a reception will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Hello Brigitte, Simone and Andre. I have just come across this notice of your Mother's passing. I am so sorry to hear that you have lost her. Often I have wondered how each of you is and what you have done with your lives. I used to babysit you when i lived at 233 Simcoe Street. I think that you lived just next door. It was a long time ago but I have thought of you often throughout the years. Best wishes and my condolences on the loss of your precious Mother.
