Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM COLISH It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of William Colish on August 3, 2001 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital with his family at his side. Predeceased by his sister Sophie Templeman; brothers-in-law, Wolfe Templeman, Victor Walker; and nephew Jack Walker. He is survived by his wife Bessie, son Louis, sister Shirley Walker, niece and nephew, Reeva and Eli Hiller and their children, Sharon and Elana. He was married to Bessie for 59 years. He was born April 2, 1909 in London, England and came to Canada in 1911 where he attended Centennial School. After graduating father had an interest in the field of telecommunications. His career spanned 44 years with the Canadian Pacific Railway where he was able to experience the changes technology brought to his profession from Morse Code to Telex. He began as a messenger delivering telegrams on a bicycle. Then he received an assignment with the Canadian Press Winnipeg Bureau in the Free Press Building. After several years at the press he acquired the position of teleprinter operator and ended his career as the staff member in charge of telex. He took pride in his job as he would reminisce about those wonderful years he had with the company. He had many interest in his life, namely Tennis, Music, Speed Skating and Photography. During retirement he liked walking in Kildonan Park every morning. Father will be remembered for having many endearing qualities that sustain us in our daily living. He was caring, compassionate and devoted as a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. We will now have to find consolation in knowing that our dear husband and father will make the stars in the heaven shine brighter because he was a shining inspiration in our lives and in all the people he met during his life. Father left me a legacy of love and devotion that has inspired me and that I will cherish all the days of my life. "Did you ever know that youre my hero? And everything Id like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, Cause you are the wind beneath my wings!" Graveside service was held on August 6 at Rosh Pina Memorial Park with Rabbi Weizman and Cantor Daien officiating. A heartfelt eulogy was read by son Louis. Pallbearers were Eli Hiller, Sam Swire, Bernie Sucharov, Aubrey Himelstein, Richard Gordon and Howard Kidekel. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Swirsky, Harry Fishman, Lou Fingerote, Manny Wiseman. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses on 4u9 for their care and support and to Drs. Kettner and Kahanovitch for their determined efforts in helping my father. Donations may be made in memory of William Colish to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, or any other charity of your choice.
