BEATRICE KARP It is with deep sadness that we announce that after a brief illness, Beatrice passed away on July 16, 2001 at 4:00 a.m., with her husband of 41 years, and two children by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Eva and Charles Kraus. Beatrice will be lovingly remembered by her husband Irvin, and her two children, Gary and Michael. Beatrice was born in New York City on February 17, 1932. The second child of Eva and Charles. Beatrice grew up in Manhattans Lower East Side, where she worked from an early age while attending school full time. After graduation in 1950, Beatrice worked for the Needleworkers Union in New York. In 1959, Beatrice met her husband Irvin, in New York, and in 1960, Irvin and Beatrice were married. In 1960, Beatrice left her job, family, and friends, and moved to Winnipeg, home of her husband Irvin, where she was warmly welcomed by Irvins family and friends. Beatrice was a wife and mother first and foremost, and her life focus was the care of her family. Beatrices family would like to thank all their relatives and friends for their prayers and kind support during her illness, and all of the staff on the 5th and 3rd floors of the Seven Oaks Hospital for their thoughtful and kind care. We know that Beatrice would have been deeply grateful for all that was done for her during her stay in the hospital. A graveside service was held on July 17, 2001 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, officiated by her brother-in-law, Rabbi Harold Karp of Chicago, Illinois, and Cantor Gerry Daien of the Chevra Mishnayes Synagogue, Winnipeg. Pallbearers were Victor Stone, Benny Roitelman, Chaim Leszcz, Lazer Fliegel, Marshall Kneller, Percy Golubchuk, and Stewart Greenfield. Shiva and daily services were held at her familys home in Winnipeg, and her husband and children wish to thank all their relatives and friends who participated and provided assistance during their time of mourning. The family would also like to thank all those who made and are making charitable donations in honour of Beatrice. May God bless you for your kind deeds. PROVERBS (Chapter 31:10-31) A woman of valour, who can find? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, and he hath no lack of gain. She doeth him good and not evil all the days of her life. She giveth food to her household. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Strength and dignity are her clothing; and she laugheth at the time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue. She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her: "Many daughters have done valiantly, but thou excellest them all." Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that revereth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her works praise her in the gates.
