ROBERT JAMES TURNBULL (1916 - 2001) Robert Turnbull passed away peacefully at the Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre on January 3, 2001, attended by loving family and friends. He lived with dignity, died with dignity and will be missed and remembered by all those that loved him. Bob was born in Winnipeg, MB, son of the late Lillian McPhillips and Harry Turnbull. Following his studies at St. Pauls College, Winnipeg in 1933, Bob began his business training with Marshall Wells, McCabe Brothers (Winnipeg Grain Exchange), and AB Flett & Co. before establishing his own consulting business specializing in stock brokerage, real estate, construction and insurance. Following service with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during the Second World War, Bob worked with Metcalfe, Hamilton, Kansas City Bridge Co. He moved to Edmonton, AB where he continued to provide management expertise, financial services, and capital investment as a business consultant involved in lumber, transportation, insurance and finance. RJ Turnbull was a founding shareholder and director of the Bank of Alberta (later to become Canadian Western Bank). A grand gentleman, Bobs kindness and generosity affected many lives. He was well respected and genuinely liked by his business associates and friends. Those who were privileged to know him will miss his stories, counsel, quick wit and determination for life. Bob was predeceased by his brother Ted (Vancouver) and survived by his sisters, Frances McHale (London, ON) and Linda Vezina (Ottawa), as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation. Funeral mass 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20 at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Church, 254 Arnold Ave., Winnipeg, followed by interment at St. Marys Cemetery.
