Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HALAYKO Peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2001, with his family by his side, John Halayko passed away at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Josephine; son Brian (Audrey) of Winnipeg; daughters, Beverley (Karl) of Beausejour, Teresa (Bart) of Cranbrook, BC, Elizabeth of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren, Derek, Stacey, Lisa, David, Jordan and Amanda; sister Kay Gregotski of Hamilton, ON; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Joe, Anton and Stanley; stepbrothers, Peter and Michael; sisters, Anne, Rose, Jean, Nellie, Marie, Stella and Laura. John was born in Ladywood, MB on November 27, 1909 and lived and worked on the family farm all his life. He spent his early years working in bush camps, on bridge construction and at Shell Oil Refinery. He retired at the age of 65. He enjoyed his time outdoors, especially hunting with his friends and son Brian, until he could no longer do so. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Prayers will be said on Sunday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Beausejour, MB, with Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. Interment will follow at Saints Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery, Ladywood. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses at the Beausejour Hospital for their kind care and compassion. Also, thank you to Dr. Garth Campbell.
