KLARA KEHL April 13, 1923 - August 18, 2001 It is with great sadness we announce the death of Klara Kehl at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Besides her husband Christopher, she leaves to mourn her passing son Dieter; daughter Ursula Smythe (Jim) grand-children, Deborah Marchildon and Christopher Smythe (Stephanie Dupras) great-grandchildren, Olivia and Nicolas. Klara is survived by sister Elfriede Carle, brother Herbert Lutz, and nieces and nephews all in Germany. She was predeceased by brother Ernst and sister Gertrud and brother-in-law Hermann Laubinger. Klara was born and grew up in Flein, Germany, and moved to Winnipeg with her husband and children in 1954. She worked until her retirement in 1984 on the housekeeping staff at the King George Hospital, where, besides doing her assigned duties, she also looked after the needs of the polio patients. Her attachment to them was so strong that she kept in touch with them up to this year. Klaras heart was centered on her family both here and in Germany, and her faith. She was a devoted mother and the best Oma anyone could have. Her most recent joy was the arrival of great-grandchildren, Olivia and Nicolas Smythe. Klara was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she found spiritual support and peace. Our thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Seven Oaks Hospital (5th floor) for their kind care over the last few years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Thursday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
