Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMADELENE LEFKO SMITH Our beloved Madelene, aged 47, died on August 17, 2001 at St. Boniface General Hospital. She leaned into life throughout her cancer care with dignity, faithful courage and strength of spirit. Madelene was pre-deceased by her father, Frank Lefko. She was the mother of six children who died pre-born in Gods grace, soon after their conception in love. Madelene will be cherished forever by her husband Allan, mother Helen, sister Deenie and Joe (Halas) and nephews, Franklin and Stephen. Her Prince Edward Island family and close friends, near and far, share also her cherished memory. A dear heart to young and old, Madelene offered to all the gift of the precious present. She was truly pure in heart and alive to God. Madelenes genuineness and humility shone so brightly through her personal talents. Her varied career in Human Services wove a tapestry of loving witness to the beauty of all persons. As well, her Lay association with the Ursuline Sisters reflected a faith life rich in Gods blessings. Madelene was born in Gimli and raised in Winnipeg. A North Y leader in her youth, she developed early a playful spirit of service and adventure. Madelene travelled extensively and loved Prince Edward Island, her second home, especially. We give thanks for the family medical team of Dr. Jeff Sisler, his residents and colleagues. Our thanks, as well, to the medical specialists of St. Boniface Hospital and the wonderful staff of 6A South. Our gratitude, also, to the CancerCare teams at the Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital. To each and every one, we offer our heartfelt words of gratitude. Our thanks extends, as well, to the community hospital of St. Marthas, in Antigonish, NS. Finally, to all our extended family and friends, we express our abundant thanks for your many acts of kindness. Madelene was a courageous, loving woman of faith who brought to our world a beautiful psalm of joy and hope.
