LILY ANDRYC (nee DENISCHUK) After a lengthy illness, our dear sister and aunt, Lily Andryc, passed away peacefully at Misericordia Health Centre on Saturday, August 18, 2001. Lily was predeceased by her loving husband Paul; dear companion and friend Frank Czernick; sisters, Lena Diduck, Mary Badiuk, Dora Polish, Anna Rybak and Victoria; brothers, Bill, Nick, Matt and John Denischuk and Andrew in infancy. Lily is survived by her sister Sophie Uhryn; brother Fred Denischuk; 26 nieces and nephews. She was born and raised on the family farm in Gardenton, MB on August 29, 1916. Lily moved to Winnipeg as a young woman where she eventually settled and made her home with her husband, Paul. Although Lily and Paul were never blessed with children of their own they always had a strong bond with all their nieces and nephews and considered them as an extended family. Lily had a very deep affection for her family and neighbours and the doors to her home were never closed to anyone. Christmas was a special time of the year as the house was full of good times and laughter, with the sounds of adults and children enjoying the holiday season especially celebrating Uncle Pauls birthday on Christmas eve. Special thanks to Elsie and Bill Badiuk for providing invaluable care and assistance to Auntie Lily while she was still in her own home as well as Kathy Rybak for being a companion and helping wherever it was required. Joan Polish as Lily used to put it for looking after my affairs and being in charge! The family are all very grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff on W-2 at the Misericordia Health Centre. The care Lily received was exceptional and she accepted her stay there as her home. Near the end, everyone was so good and kind to her and we shall be forever grateful, for everyones care, kindness and compassion. Prayers will be held on Friday, August 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Gardenton, MB, with Very Rev. John A. Melnyk officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Dinner to follow in the church hall. Pallbearers will be Lilys nephews, Ted and Steven Polish, Ed Denischuk, Bill, Jack and Dennis Badiuk. If friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Aunty Lilys memory to St. Demetrios Ukrainian Orthodox Church, South Gardenton, MB R0A 2M0.
