Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE ASHER On Sunday, August 19, 2001 at the Red River Place in Selkirk, Marie Asher, aged 96 years, passed away peacefully. Marie was born in England on June 9, 1905, daughter of the late Edwin and Alice Baker. She came to Canada in 1912 and married Charles Leonard Asher on December 19, 1924. She was predeceased by her husband, Len in 1967, a son Alfred in 1947, three grandchildren, Trevor, Keith and Leanore; and two brothers and a sister. Marie leaves surviving three daughters, Louise Kelner (Adam) of Winnipeg Beach, Dora Craigie (Doug) of Parksville, BC, and Marie Fredborg (Edward) of Winnipeg; two sons, Bert (June) of Selkirk and Chuck (Fran) of Winnipeg Beach; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Rev. Lynn Stevens officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the Winnipeg Beach Community Cemetery. Special thanks to Diane, Shannon, Stan and staff at Red River Place and also to Dr. Ducheck and Dr. Lindenschmidt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
