Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK J. DUCHNICKI July 18, 1918 - August 21, 2001 It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my uncle at Deer Lodge Centre on August 21, 2001. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his brother Joseph, sister Mary and brother Paul Duchnicki. He leaves to mourn his passing, his niece Diane. Uncle Frank was born in the North End and lived there all his life until his stroke in 1997. He attended the Holy Ghost School on Selkirk Avenue. He enlisted in the Canadian Army, in which he served overseas with his regiment, the Winnipeg Rifles, during the Second World War. Upon coming home from the war, he started his own concrete business, in which he constructed buildings for the family to start their own businesses, and constructed homes for his brothers. He worked long, hard hours until in his 70s, when he retired. He loved his homing pigeons, and entered races with the Pigeon Club. His other love was gardening. He enjoyed listening to music, going to the Holy Ghost Church Teas, Folklorama and Rainbow Stage. I wish to give special thanks to all the caregivers at Seven Oaks Hospital, Concordia Hospital, Bethania Personal Care Home and especially to the many caregivers at Deer Lodge Centre, T5, who cared for my uncle with loving kindness, making his last years comfortable. Prayers will be held on Friday, August 24 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m., also at the chapel, with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Uncle Frank, I will always miss you and you will be forever in my heart. May the wings of the angels let you soar to the heavens.
