DOREEN FRIESEN (nee CADIEUX) 1951 - 2001 It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Doreen Friesen, our beloved "Dodo" on Sunday, August 19, 2001 at the Boundry Trail Health Centre in Winkler, MB. Born on October 26, 1951 to Alma and Lucien Cadieux, Doreen grew up and obtained her education in Letellier, MB. Doreen married Archie Friesen on April 5, 1975 and after residing in both Scandia, AB and Emerson, MB, they returned to reside in Letellier where she lived until her passing. Doreen was a loving and devoted mother to her son Michael. In 1995 Doreen and friend Bev Marcinkow purchased and operated The Prairies Edge Motel in Letellier, where she will be missed. Doreens home and yard were a great source of pride for her, and her flair for decorating and gardening was evident all around her. There are many wonderful memories of the love and laughter shared in her home. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Archie in March of 1983, mother Alma in December of 1994, father Lucien in September of 1995 and her brother Jerry in December of 1998. She was also predeceased by an infant sister Lynda Jeanine in November of 1947. We know she has been welcomed by them with great love and joy. She leaves to mourn her passing, her son Michael Paul Friesen; her niece Karen (Rick) Chrest and their children, Kaitlin, Brett and Dylan; as well as many relatives and friends. The memorial service for Doreen Friesen will be held on Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m., at the St. Pie Catholic Church in Letellier, MB, with interment to follow the service in the Letellier Parish Cemetery. Please consider all who loved her to be her honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Doreen, donations may be made to the Altona and District Palliative Care or to CancerCare Manitoba. The care and kindness shown to Doreen in the Altona and Boundry Trail Health Centres was greatly appreciated by both her family and friends. A special thank you to Barb Hicks, who helped sooth Doreens spirit and ease her gently from this world into the next. Throughout her illness, Dodo showed great inner strength, dignity and courage and taught us the gentle art of letting go. Although we will miss her terribly we know that she is once again in the arms of her family. Wiebe Funeral Home Altona 204-324-5404 is in care of the arrangements.
