Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANZ KOOP February 12, 1928 - August 20, 2001 Peacefully on August 20, 2001 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, Franz Koop of Fairford, MB left this temporal world and entered into the glorious presence of his God and Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. Franz is survived by his beloved wife Eleanor; his daughter Wendy and her husband Rob McAlpine; his son Todd; and grandchildren, Jordan, Caleb, and Renee McAlpine. They will forever cherish his precious memory. Franz will be lovingly remembered by his three sisters, Katherine Plett of Steinbach, Helena and Maria Koop, both of Blumenort; four brothers, Peter (Elizabeth) of Steinbach, Gerhard (Sara) of Belize, Central America, Albert (Margaret) of Winnipeg, and Henry (Shirley) of Dauphin. Franz was predeceased by his parents and four brothers. Born February 12, 1928 in the Hanover municipality, Franz as a young man spent two years working as a lumberjack. For eight years he worked as a store clerk in Steinbach, and later he embarked on a 17 year career as a school teacher. For 10 of those years, he was the school principal. In 1962, Franz bought the farm where he lived until his death, and where he was an active rancher until two years ago. Franz was a Prairie Bible Institute alumni. He served as secretary-treasurer for Hilbre Gospel Chapel from May 1993 until July 2001. He believed that for those who trust in Christ, "death is merely a temporal separation after which well have a reunion in Christs presence." An evening visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, #9 Railway Ave., Ashern, MB. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grahamdale Hall, Grahamdale, MB, with Pastor Denis Pelland officiating. Interment will follow at the Hilbre Community Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Samaritans Purse or Hilbre Gospel Chapel, General Delivery, Hilbre, MB R0C 1L0. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
