V. LORRAINE NORTOFT (nee BISSETT) Lorraine passed away on August 19, 2001 at Vista Park Lodge at the age of 81. She was born in Winnipeg, September 28, 1919. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1984, father William in 1925, mother Mabel in 1977, brother Edwin in 1964 and his wife Ethel in 1963, sister Gladys in 1975, brother Gordon in 1958 and his wife Marjorie in 1998. Lorraine was born, raised, and resided in the West End almost all her life. She attended school at John M. King, General Wolfe, Daniel McIntyre, and Success Business College. She became an executive secretary and worked at the Legislative Building and later at C.P. Rail. She married in 1945 and became a stay-at-home mom. Her family and her children were most important in her life. The values she instilled guide our lives today. She was a member of the United Commercial Travellers Ladies Division and was their Chaplain for many years. After moving into Vista Park Lodge, she actively participated in the activities there and spent many hours knitting her children and grandchildren beautiful afghans which we value and treasure. Lorraine is survived by daughters, Merna (Bob) Niblock, Linda (Dennis) Pakulak; son Dale Nortoft of Calgary; grandchildren, Tod (Elke) and Troy Niblock, Lisa (David) Daigle of Calgary; and nephew Bill (Faye) Bissett of Edmonton. Thanks to those special people who took good care of her at Vista Park Lodge, Grace Hospital 3N and Chaplain Lieutenant-Colonel Maxwell Ryan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Canada, 167 - 167 Lombard Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0T6. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Regents Park United Church, 613 St. Marys Rd., with Rev. Bill Millar officiating.
