JOHN A. INGRAHAM Passed away peace-fully with family at his side at Grace General Hospital on August 22, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He leaves to mourn his wife Doris, and daughters, Cynthia Gyles (Edward), Jessica; Andrea Vinci (Gianni), Adam and Alessandra. Born in Calgary and educated in USA, he was truly a dual citizen. Prior to the war, he spent several years prospecting for gold in the NWT. This experience ignited a passion for the north which lasted all his life. His favourite poet was Robert Service whose works he would quote frequently. After three and a half years in the AAF, he returned to the University of Minnesota where he met his wife of 52 years. In 1948, they moved to Winnipeg where he began his lengthy career with Hart Emerson Co. His life work was in manufacturing which led to Senior Management positions in both Canada and the USA. Throughout his professional life, John earned the respect of his employees and colleagues. John was an active member of the Winnipeg West Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as both President and District Governor. He enjoyed the Rotary fellowship for almost 50 years. Following retirement in 1984, John became a member of the Churchill Northern Studies Centre promoting Arctic education and research. John always had a love of the outdoors and spent many happy years at West Hawk Lake where he could be seen tooling around the lake in his favourite cedar strip Peterborough "Kalua". His love for the lake was passed on to his children and the family will always remember the happy summers spent with friends and relatives. John will be remembered always as an intelligent and caring man with a quick sense of humour. We will all miss him. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at West Park Manor and 4S of the Grace Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join in a celebration of Johns life and to share treasured memories on Monday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey Street. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, friends may make donations to a charity of choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
