ARCHIBALD "ARCHIE" TRACZ Archibald (Archie) Tracz, of Brandon, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, August 17, 2001. Archie was born at Sifton, MB on June 12, 1941, the eldest son of Peter and Rose Tracz. He spent his early years on the farm and completed his education in Sifton. After several jobs, Archie joined Manitoba Hydro in May 1963, which took him province wide, spending the bulk of his time in Winnipeg, and finally the Brandon Service Centre where he retired in June 1996. Archie then became chief gopher and dishwasher in the family business (The Food Bar). Archie was a past member of the Masonic Lodge (St. Vital), present member of the Royal Canadian Legion #3, and Hydro X. Archie was involved with ball in Winnipeg and later enjoyed curling, golf, and snooker. Archie took great pride in his yard and garden. He loved spending time with his cats and visiting the Humane Society. Archie is survived by his wife Carol (of 34 years) his daughters, Jennifer (CFB Edmonton), Jacquie (Jamie) McGregor of Brandon, Joann (Rene), Eric, and Edward (Stephanie) Tourond of Virden; mother Rose of Dauphin; brothers, Joe (Ethel) of Morinville, AB, and Harry (Judy) of Edmonton; sister Sylvia (Jack) Petersen of Prince George, BC; brother-in-law Ross (Darlene) Simpson of Melita; five nephews and two nieces. Archie was predeceased by an infant son Jared; his father Peter; brother Jim; and in-laws, Emma and Donald Simpson. Funeral service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Tuesday, August 21 at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Mike Davis officiating. Eulogies were given by brother Harry and Judy Tracz and by daughter Jennifer. Inurnment followed at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Archie may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 203-42 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B2, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st St., Brandon, MB R7A 2W8. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan.
