Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD A. BROWN On August 21, 2001, Harold A. Brown passed away at Victoria General Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Betty in April 1999, Harold is survived by his children, Scott (Lois), Barbara (Clarke), and Kathryn; his brother Jamie; and grandchildren, Scott, Tara, Jeff, and Mark (Karen). Harold was born in Winnipeg January 14, 1918 to John Kerr and Elma Kennedy Brown and lived his entire life in the City of Winnipeg. After serving as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax during the Second World War, Harold returned to Winnipeg and attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with the Gold Medal in Pharmacy. Harold went to work with his father in the family pharmacy, J. Kerr Brown Ltd., in Elmwood. This community landmark was established by Harolds father in 1905 and Harold ran the business until his retirement in 1975. Browns Drugs is still very much part of the community today, located at Henderson Highway and Johnson Avenue in Elmwood. Harold and Betty enjoyed travelling after his retirement and spent many happy years with family and friends at their cottage at Victoria Beach. More recently, Harold was able to enjoy visiting with extended family members at a Brown Family Reunion organized by his brother Jamie at Victoria Beach. At his request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A family gathering will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Uncle Jamie, Auntie Mary, Margaret Palmer and Dorothy Schultz for their special kindness to Dad. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
