JOHN JOHNS Peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2001, John Johns passed away at the age of 90. John was predeceased by his wife Gladys of 50 years; parents, George and Marion; three sisters, Madeline, Isabel, Sadie; and one brother Elias. Left to mourn Johns passing is his son George Johns, many nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law George of Vancouver. John served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, after which he worked for the C.P.R. until he opened his restaurant, Eds Lunch, in the late 40s where he worked until his retirement. After his retirement, John spent a short time working for Acklands. John enjoyed fishing and was a champion five-pin bowler. John was a member of St. Berenadettes Catholic Church and the Canadian Mens Lebanese Club. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Deer Lodge Centre and Charleswood Personal Care Home. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) with interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba at 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
