Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEFFIE DAVIS (nee DUSHENKO) 1921 - 2001 Effie Davis passed away suddenly at Oakview Place on August 25, 2001 at the age of 80 years. Effie was pre-deceased by her sons, Douglas, Edward and Maynard all in infancy; her brothers, Fred and Mike; and her sisters, Pauline and Ann. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her loving husband, Bud; her daughter, Sharon; son, Brian (Laurie) grandchildren, Sandra, Doug, Megan and Drew; along with numerous other relatives and good friends. Effiewas born and educated in Crystal City, MB where she met her partner and husband of 57 years, Bud. The couple both served in the R.C.A.F. and were married in London, England in 1944. Following their discharge they returned to Winnipeg and resided in St. James. Over the years Effie remained active in her community. She was a Guardian of Bethel No. 7 of the Jobs Daughters for many years before eventually becoming Grand Guardian of Manitoba. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4. Effie will be remembered for her interest in her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching their continued growth. Although hampered by numerous medical difficulties in the latter part of her life, her good humour and positive outlook in life allowed her to enjoy life to the fullest. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Cremation committal to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Effies memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-351 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
