ARCHIBALD (ARCHIE) REID GIBSON Archie Gibson of Winnipeg peacefully passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on August 30, 2001, at the age of 58 years. He was born in Scotland in 1943 where, at the age of 16, he started his apprenticeship as an upholsterer. He moved his family out to Canada in 1970. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret of Calgary; his sons, John (Andrea) and Robert of Winnipeg; his daughter Anna of Calgary; his granddaughters, Megan and Chantel of Calgary, the sunshine of his life; and his brother John Mitchell of Glasgow. He was predeceased by his mother (Hannah), father (Thomas) and two sisters (Grace and Betty). He was a loving father and a kind soul who will be missed by all who knew him. The things he enjoyed most in his life were badminton, golfing, Elvis and his grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to his dear friends, Milly and Elaine, for their support and to all the nurses at GD4 and RR6 Health Sciences Centre for their care given to our father. We would also like to thank the many others who stopped in to visit him during his illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St., with Sr. Rose Desrochers presiding. A gathering of relatives and friends will follow in the reception centre. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Stathers, Brian Monteith, Edwin Wesley, Robert Syrota, Ian A. McAulay and James Cheetaam. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9.
