DAMIEN HENRI (DANNY) CLEMENT Peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on Saturday, August 25, 2001, we announce with great sadness the passing of Danny after his courageous battle with cancer. Danny was born in Ste. Agathe, MB on February 16, 1936. He was a loving husband, father and grand-father and will be missed by his wife Grace, daughter Diane, son David (Shari) of Calgary, and grandsons, Matthew and Nicholas. His mother Marie-Marthe of Winnipeg; sisters, Rolly (Emile) Mondor of Ste. Annes, Fern (Al) Doern and Joey (Brian) Bernes of Winnipeg; brothers, Claude and Rheal (Helen) of Winnipeg, Lou (Joan) of Calgary, Paul (Diane) of Kelowna, Marcel (Val) of Ottawa; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Mathias in 1986 and his sister-in-law Audrey in 2000. Danny loved sports; he had played hockey and slow pitch baseball, bowled for many years at the La Verendrye Club as well as the Golfers Bowling League on Saturday mornings at Chateau Lanes. He was an avid golfer and had belonged to St. Boniface Golf Club as a member of the Dawn Patrol and had also been a member of Southwood Golf & Country Club and the Victoria Beach Golf Club. Upon his retirement in 1993 from the Codville Co. as the Director of Meat Operations, Danny spent many enjoyable hours at his Hillside Beach cottage relaxing, watching and feeding the wildlife and just visiting with friends and relatives. Their many "make" work projects became fun times, filled with lots of laughter. Danny was always willing to provide a helping hand. He enjoyed his winter vacations in the United States and Western Canada as well as his many trips as part of the Dirty Dozen. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to friends and neighbours who kept in touch and gave their support during the time of his illness. Many thanks to Dr. R. Wong and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital CancerCare Clinic as well as the special and kind care he received from Dr. Harlos and the nurses and support staff at the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, in particular Helen and Sean. At his request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 29 at 10:30 a.m., Precious Blood Church, 200 Kenny St., with Fr. Marcel Chaput officiating. Interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, PO Box 2248, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons, in care of arrangements, 233-4949.
