Born: Jun 09, 1915
Date of Passing: Aug 27, 2001
Offer Condolences or MemoryJENNIE (JEAN) HUDDLESTON (nee WRIGHT) June 9, 1915 - August 27, 2001 Peacefully, on August 27, 2001 at Donwood Manor, Jean Huddleston went home to be with the Lord at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish her memory is Walter, her loving husband of 65 years; daughters, Gertrude (Arthur) and Dorothy (Henry) and son Raymond. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Janice (Vince), Amber (Brad) and Kevin, Barbara (Gary), Ron (Ursula) and Robert, Jamie and Tracy; many great-grandchildren, and family in Ireland. She was predeceased by sister Elizabeth; and brothers, William and James. Jean was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, daughter of Eliza and William Wright. She married Walter Huddleston on Christmas Day in 1935. Jean stayed home to raise her young family until they immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg in 1952. Jean was employed by Hercules Manufacturing for 23 years. She was an active member at East Kildonan Church, The Irish Association, and her Union Seniors Club. Many happy summers have been spent at the cottage in Otter Falls with family and friends. Despite her own physical inability, many lives were enriched because of her hospitality and generosity. There were numerous trips back to visit Ireland as well as California, Hawaii, and the Continent. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Donwood Manor for their great compassion and kindness. Viewing will take place at Edward Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald, Thursday, August 30, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at East Kildonan Baptist Church, 700 Watt St. on Friday, August 31, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Kildonan Baptist Church. Miss me, but let me go. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone, Its all part of the Masters Plan A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me, but let me go. In care of arrangements: EDWARD J. COUTU LTD.
