LAURIE RUTH KIRKLAND (nee HARRISON) Suddenly, at her residence, Laurie Ruth Kirkland passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2001 at the age of 42 years. Laurie was born in Winnipeg on August 9, 1959. She grew up in St. Vital and was educated at Hastings School and the Dakota Collegiate. Laurie also studied Landscape Gardening at the Red River Community College and was an avid gardener. Laurie was also a very creative and talented artist. Her ability in this area was inherited and encouraged by her auntie Grace Lambert, who predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by her husband Ken; son Troy Harrison and Troys father Jamie Irving. Laurie also will be dearly missed and remembered by her parents, William and Alice Harrison; brother Scott; sisters, Brenda Meyers (Ray) of Teulon, MB, Maureen and Stacia Foster (Hans) of Tottenham, ON. She will also be remembered by her Aunt Eleanor and Uncle Don (Vancouver), Aunt Anne (Winnipeg) and cousins, Delcy-Ann (Winnipeg), Doug, Deena and Dawn-Leigh (all from Vancouver), Donna and Fred (Winnipeg), Carole (Pelly, SK), Valdene (Sperling, MB) and Glenn (Winnipeg). She will also be missed by nephews, Bob (Mission, BC), David (Coquitlam, BC) and Sean (Tottenham, ON). Laurie is also survived by relatives in England and New Zealand. Laurie loved her pets and any lost or injured animal always found a home with her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lauries memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
