SHIRLEY URCHENKO Peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2001 at Riverview Health Centre, Shirley Urchenko passed away at the age of 64 years. Shirley was born August 22, 1937 in Gilbert Plains, MB and moved to East St. Paul, MB in 1943 with her family. She is survived by her brother John Urchenko and sister-in-law Joan of East St. Paul and their family: Norilynn and John Thomas White and Kelly Dehn; James, Janice, Krista and Erik Urchenko; Sharon, Doug, Lauren and Alexa Kozak and Kristine and Keith Chwartacki; brother Tom Urchenko and sister-in-law Carole and Janelle of Victoria BC; Aunt Josie of Victoria, BC and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary. Shirley contracted polio in 1948 and fought it the rest of her life with courage and good humour, never complaining. She had a brave battle with cancer the last year of her life. Shirley will be sadly missed by all who loved her. Special thanks to her many friends who were always there for her and to the staff of 3E, Riverview Health Centre for their kind care. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway with Rev. Jim Hatherly officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. A private family interment will be held in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirleys memory may be made to the Post Polio Network Manitoba Inc., 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
