SIDNEY HAROLD PETERSEN February 16, 1933 - August 28, 2001 Dad passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital with his family by his side. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Agnes Petersen; and his brothers, Shelly and Sandy. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Joanne; his children, Marilyn (Marvin), Audrey, Vern, Glenda (Bill), Dwayne (Jennifer) as well as 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; as well as a sister Connie Boyer (Bill) and sisters-in-law, Helen and Marlene Petersen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Tyndall, MB, he was raised and attended school in Brookfield. Dad began employment on construction of the Pine Falls Powerhouse in 1951. He worked on various construction projects until 1955 when he joined the operating staff of Manitoba Hydro on the Winnipeg River. He worked on the operating staff at Kelsey G.S. and for several years at the Grand Rapids G.S. before returning to the Winnipeg River. He transferred to the electrical staff during automation and ended his 35 year career with Hydro as Senior Electrical Technician. Dad was recognized and very well respected for his knowledge and ability to get things done. Dad retired in 1990 and resided in Lac du Bonnet until his passing. The family would like to thank the surgeons, nurses and the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion shown to our husband, father and grandfather, it will not be forgotten. Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
