JEAN DODGSON It is with great sadness that we announce that on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 7:05 p.m. after a tenuous battle with cancer, Jean Dodgson died at Riverview Health Centre. Predeceased in May 1998 by her husband Edwin, the love of her life, she leaves to mourn son David and family, Susanna, Matthew, Caitlin, and Bryce; and daughter Janet Pledger and family, John, Aaron, Simon, Christian, Benjamin and Jonathan. Also left to mourn are Jeans family in England, and sister Mary of Port Colbourne, ON and family as well as numerous friends. Jean was born September 9, 1929 to Charles and Hannah Leonard of Dunston, County Durham, England and married Edwin on October 7, 1950. In 1969, Edwin, Jean, and family immigrated to Canada, residing in Thompson for 17 years before moving to Winnipeg in 1986. Having survived breast cancer in 1978, Jean was an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and was well known to, and supportive of, many cancer patients and their families. Her personal experience with the disease afforded her a perspective that was a comfort to all who knew her. Jean was a loving and caring individual with a wonderful sense of humour and a steadfast faith in God and the power of prayer, which she retained up to the end. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who were touched by her presence. Our sincere thanks to the caring staff at Health Sciences Centre. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre. A celebration of Jeans life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, at St. Aidans Anglican Church, 274 Campbell St., Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined.
