DR. MAUREEN ANDREW OBRODOVICH Dr. Maureen Andrew OBrodovich, a Professor of Paediatrics with the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, died suddenly on Tuesday, August 28, 2001. She was 49 years old. Dr. OBrodovich was a paediatrician who specialized in the treatment of children with blood clotting disorders. She established the Canadian Thrombophilia Society and the 1-800-N0-CLOTS service that enabled her to treat children from around the world. Dr. OBrodovich was a career investigator for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. She was an internationally recognized clinician scientist who had received many awards. Dr. OBrodovich was the second Canadian to become the President of the Society for Paediatric Research, the international society promoting research in childhood diseases. Prior to Joining the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Dr. OBrodovich had postings at the New York University Medical Centre and McMaster University in Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Hugh OBrodovich, paediatrician and chief at the Hospital for Sick Children, and two children, Michelle and A.J. (Adam). She was predeceased by her son Robbie in 1986. A funeral reception was held at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St., Oakville, ON, on Wednesday, August 29 and a private family service followed. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation for the Paediatric Thrombophilia Programme or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

  • I am so heart broken to hear of the passing of Dr Andrews ....she was an astounding woman and in my opinion the best Dr who walked the earth! It's just not fair she saved so many lives including my own as a child and no one could save hers... I would not be here today without Dr Andrews she will forever be in my thoughts memories and prayers.
