WALTER STANLEY LARKINS April 29, 1926 - August 30, 2001 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Walter Stanley Larkins, at Concordia Hospital, at age 75. Dad was born and raised in Transcona and had been married to Mom for 52 years. He had been employed with the C.N.R. for 43 years, retiring December 1987. Dad was involved with the Boy Scouts, the Transcona Pipe Band, a member of the Transcona Memorial United Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Transcona Branch No. 7. We will cherish the memories of our family camping trips with Dad to Lake Brereton and the Detroit Lakes. We will always fondly remember our Dads helping hand and advice when needed. Dad is lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret; children, Fred (Barbara), Pat Bain (Dannie), Raymond (Cindy), and Sheila Fortier (Ron) grandchildren, Jennifer, Philip (Mandy), Alexandra, Andrew, Heather (Jeff), David, Robin, Ricky, and Jeffrey; great-grandson Ethan William Larkins. Dad was predeceased by his youngest son Robert Allen in November 1993. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. H. Krahn and the staff of N2 West at the Concordia Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W., with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, or to a charity of your choice.
