EDITH MAY McTAVISH (nee BENDER) October 3, 1917 - August 30, 2001 Peacefully, on August 30, 2001, Edith McTavish passed away at the age of 83. Edith was born in the Pembina Municipality and spent most of her life in Winnipeg. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #119 until going into a care home. She loved playing bingo and cards, knitting, baking, and cross words. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, whom she married in 1939. Edith is survived by 14 children, Shirley, Bernard, Andrew (Dawn), Bev (Ken), Wilfred, Irene (Bob), Percy (Florence), Wayne (Barb), Gordon (Shirley), Marlene, Cecil, Albert (Mary), Marilyn (Stan), Mark (January) 45 grand-children; 56 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Monday, September 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, at 12:30 p.m., also at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. The family would like to thank all at Kildonan Personal Care Home. Edith especially enjoyed her night nurse. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg MB R3B 2H8, would be greatly appreciated.
