JULIA CARLSON On Thursday, August 30, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, MB, Julia Carlson of Vita formerly of Piney passed away at the age of 88 years. Julia was born on December 25, 1912 in Strandquist, Minnesota to John and Martha Berg. Julia lived on the family farm in Menisino until she married Andrew Carlson on May 6, 1936 and together they resided in Menisino. Later they moved to Wawa, Ontario and in fall of 1976 they moved to Vassar, MB and then in 1983 they moved to Piney, MB. After Andy passed away in April, 1984, Julia remained in Piney until January, 2000 at which time she moved to Vita Personal Care Home where she resided until her death. Julia is survived by two brothers, Arne Berg of Grunthal, MB., John (Sigvard) and Florence Berg of Piney, MB., one sister Edith Baines of Vassar, MB., many nieces and nephews. Julia was predeceased by her husband Andrew Carlson in 1984, infant daughter Arlene in 1937, brothers, Ole Berg, Walter Berg, sisters, Ingaborg Mattson, Cecilia McMurry and Mary Horvath. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Piney Community Church with Rev. Louis Hermanson officiating. Interment will follow in the Menisino Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church prior to the service. Donations in her memory may be made to Piney Community Church Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach.
