MASSEY COLBERG It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Massey Colberg at the age of 91 on Saturday, August 25, 2001, at the Sharon Home. Massey will be dearly missed by daughter Audrey Arlinsky of Winnipeg, son David of London, Ont., brothers, Albert (Myrna) and Bill of Vancouver and Joe (Rhoda-Mae) of California, sister Sally (Manny) Kirshner of Seattle, grandchildren, Shawn (Natasha) Colberg of London, Ont., Nata, Cara and Rena Arlinsky and great grand-daughter Mahalia Arlinsky-Pullar, his special companion and sweetheart Rose Goulding all of Winnipeg, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Massey was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Esther (Fink) in 1987, his maternal grandmother Dobrish Berg, parents, Gertie and Colman, brothers, Jack and David, sisters, Ida, Esther, Mary and Kay. Massey was born in Winnipeg in 1909 and lost his mother at a very early age. He married Esther Fink in 1936 after a long courtship and they had two children Audrey and David. Massey was a dedicated employee of Stall & Sons for over 30 years, respected for his honesty and integrity. Retiring in 1974, he and Esther became snowbirds travelling across Canada and the U.S.A., finally taking annual retreats to Florida each winter where they made many friends. About five years after losing his beloved wife Esther, Massey met his special companion/sweetheart Rose Goulding, sharing many wonderful years together. Admired for his great sense of humour, independence, generosity, and dedication to his family, Massey will be fondly remembered for his free spirit and zest for life. Funeral services were held Monday, August 27 at Rosh Pina Congregation with interment at Rosh Pina Cemetery. Rabbi Neil Rose and Cantor Gerry Daien officiated. Moving eulogies were delivered by Rose Goulding and granddaughter Cara Arlinsky on behalf of the grandchildren. Pallbearers were Shawn Colberg, Nata and Rena Arlinsky, Dr. Gary Altman, Louis Blanaru, and David Novikof. Shiva is being observed at 204 - 255 Wellington Crescent. Contributions in Masseys memory may be made to the Sharon Home. The family wish to thank Masseys caregivers and the Sharon Home staff for their kindness and support.
