Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADELE JOHNSON (BILLINKOFF) Peacefully, on August 16, 2001 Adele Johnson (nee Billinkoff) passed away in Cincinnati, OH. Born on February 22, 1914 to David and Rose Billinkoff, she grew up in the North End of Winnipeg and graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. Adele subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps where she served as a Captain from 1942 until 1946 and was decorated for her services during the invasions of New Guinea and The Philippines. Following the war, Adele married Jack Johnson and they made their home in the Aleutian Islands where she served the Aleut community, especially the children, with great love and respect. She then made her home for many years in Seattle before moving to Cincinnati in the mid-70s. The last survivor of eight children, Adele was predeceased by brothers, Louis, Frank, Alex, Ben and Joe; and sisters, Ada and Ann. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Leona and Anne of Winnipeg; and nieces and nephews, David of BNai Brak, Israel; Arlene, David and Corinne, Ron and Joyce of Winnipeg; Heddy and Sam, Beatrice and Ami of Toronto; and Batya and Jeff of Rochester, NY; along with grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnieces. A service was held on August 18 in Cincinnati.
