Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKERRY JOEL KLUNER Kerry Joel Kluner, 45, born July 23, 1956, in Winnipeg, Canada, passed away suddenly August 30, 2001 in San Diego. Dr. Kluner was a graduate of the University of Manitoba Medical School with a fellowship in Psychiatry. He completed post-graduate training in pediatric and adolescent psychiatry at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, and Harvard University Medical School. Kerry had an established and thriving practice in family and adolescent psychiatry in Del Mar, CA. The three focuses in Kerrys life were family, patient care and his music. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and son, and enjoyed close relationships with all of his extended family. This deep love of family, along with his empathy and compassion formed the basis for his dedication to patient care. In addition, music was a passion that Kerry pursued throughout his life with many accomplishments as a professional jazz trumpet musician and band leader. He was greatly loved and respected in all these areas. Kerry had a love for children of all ages and was extremely compassionate towards everyone. His values and the way he lived his life will serve as a lasting influence for all of us. We will miss his smile, his style, his warmth and his charm. He is survived by his wife, Heather; son, Zev; daughter Elana; mother Phyllis Kluner Hatskin and husband Rube Hatskin of Winnipeg; brothers, Martin Kluner of Calgary, Alan Kluner of Winnipeg; in-laws, Sybil and Motty Rosenberg of Winnipeg, and their families, and was predeceased by his father Bill Kluner of Winnipeg. Services were held at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego, at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, September 2. Pallbearers were Martin Kluner, Alan Kluner, Michael Goorvich, Allan Levine, Martin Charlat and Dan Shinoff. Donations can be made to the "Foundation to Advance Music Education" (FAME), a non-profit organization bringing music to public schools in the San Diego area, 3535 Del Mar Heights Rd., Suite 389, San Diego, CA, 92130.
