SONIA JOSEPHINE BEATRICE LEWIS It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our sister and aunt, Sonia, on Saturday, September 1, 2001 at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Sonia was born in Gonor, MB, on February 10, 1914. She was educated in Gonor and Winnipeg and took her nurses training at St. Josephs Hospital. She then left for Montreal and during the war left the nursing profession to work for Canadian Pacific Airlines. She left the Airlines and opened a beauty salon in Montreal. She returned to Winnipeg in 1972 and worked part time at Sears until 1984 when she fully retired. Sonia was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Dora Lewis; brothers, Sammuel, Michael, Lorne, Eugene and John. Sonia will be sadly missed by her sisters, Marjorie Reutcky of Morrisbourg, ON, and especially by her sister Leona Lewis Turenne of Winnipeg. Also numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved very dearly and also all her friends. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. With respect to Sonias wishes, cremation will follow and a private family interment will be held at a later date in Gonor. Flowers are gratefully declined. If relatives or friends desire, donations may be made in Sonias memory to the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of the Holy Trinity, Box 36, Group 360, RR 3, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2E7. Many thanks are expressed to the 1st floor nursing staff and volunteers of the Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their help, kindness and consideration during very trying times.
