Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFERDINAND (FRED) BALES Peacefully, at the Grace Hospital, on September 4, 2001, Fred Bales passed away at the age of 82. Fred was a loving husband to wife Hilde and a loving father to sons, Norman (Connie) of Calgary, AB, and Ralph (Gail) of Winnipeg. He will be missed by grandchildren, Scott (Kristie) and Julie of Calgary and Dustin, Megan and Zachary of Winnipeg. Fred was born in Lemberg, SK on March 22, 1919. The eleventh of thirteen children, he is survived by sisters, Minnie Watt of Kelowna, BC, Carol Kasper of Summerland, BC, and Eva Bendig (Seigfreid) of Regina, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Born on the farm in Saskatchewan, Fred loved the country life and farmed for 20 years. In 1970 the family moved to Manitoba where Fred held a variety of jobs until his retirement from the Provincial Government in 1986. Fred was a long time member of the St. James Lutheran Church and his church was very special to him. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion in Freds final days. As per Freds wishes a cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8 at the St. James Lutheran Church, corner of Hamilton and Cavalier. Flowers are gratefully declined.
