CAROL BARCLAY 1961 - 2001 Peacefully, on Sunday, September 2, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer, Carol went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Carol was born in Emo, ON into a loving family on May 26, 1961. Carol grew up on the family farm in Rainy River where she enjoyed frolicking with her siblings, cousins and many friends. After completing high school Carol went on to further her education at Success Business College in Winnipeg. Throughout her career Carol enjoyed the many friends she made and the challenges she met while working at the Workers Compensation Board in Winnipeg, the Northern Albert Institute of Technology, and the different positions she held at CFB Baden, Soellingen, Germany. On returning to Canada, Carol was employed by CN Railways in Edmonton before transferring to the CN Waybilling Centre in Winnipeg. During Christmas holidays in 1983, Allan and Marilyn Olson introduced Carol to Phil and after a wonderful courtship they were married on May 3, 1986 in Rainy River, ON. They were blessed with two loving sons, Drew in 1992 and Trevor in 1994. Carol loved to travel and spent many happy times in such locations as Hawaii, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Scotland, England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and across Canada and the U.S.A. Carol was an extremely active person and was most proud of achieving her 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Carol instructed many children in the art of Tae Kwon Do, including her son Drew who, at the age of six, was the youngest Winnipeger to achieve a black belt at that time. Carol had a keen sense of humour, which stayed with her right to the end. Carol leaves to rejoice in her life her loving husband Phil; precious sons Drew and Trevor; her parents Gisela and John Mykytyn; sisters, Sandra, Jo-Ann; and brothers Morris, Michael, and their families. She will also be remembered with deep affection by Phils parents Jim and Gladys Barclay; his brothers, Stan, Leslie, and sister Merle and their families. Special thanks to the Salvation Army and staff at the Grace Hospital, Rev. Rod Buck, 435 Squadron, CNR, and the many family and friends who helped make a difficult time easier to bear. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, NE Hamilton Avenue and Cavalier Drive. Viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church on the day of the service. Services will conclude at the church with a private family interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Autism Society of Manitoba, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5 or, as Carol loved flowers, they will be gratefully accepted at the church.
