Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKYLE SUTTON HAWRYLUK April 6, 1980 - September 2, 2001 With great sadness, the family of Kyle Sutton Hawryluk announces his passing. He died suddenly, but peacefully at the family camp near Kenora. He was surrounded by people who loved him, both friends and family, and he suffered no pain. Kyle was born in Winnipeg on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1980 and brought happiness to everyone who knew him in his short life. Kyles enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he made friends easily and comfortably. He treasured his many friendships - they were everything to him, and all of his friends helped him in so many ways in these last years. The mountains and the Lake were Kyles favourite places. He had many happy skiing and boarding trips to the mountains with family and friends and was looking forward to many more. His love of the Lake began with his first trips to Mackies Island as an infant and continued through the building of the family camp on the Winnipeg River. There are many who will hold in their minds the images of him bombing across the Lake in his blue boat, carving a turn down the mountainside, and landing a flip on his board. Kyle attended St. Johns Ravenscourt School, Riverview School and Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute. One of his proudest moments was graduating on time from MBCI with his friends in 1998, despite his devastating illness. He overcame the daily challenges of a life threatening disease to ensure that he stood with his friends at Graduation. He was attending the University of Manitoba, and was looking forward to the start of the fall semester. He was always ready for a game or an adventure. A gifted athlete, he played baseball, soccer and hockey as a youngster. He later concentrated on racquet sports, which he played with ease. He was a member of the Manitoba Junior Squash team, and was the three-time KCAC Conference Boys Badminton Champion. He also played Junior Varsity Basketball at MBCI. He was a beautiful golfer, with a sweet swing. His real passions, though, were wakeboarding and especially snowboarding - - and the freedom and fun those boards gave him. Even during his illness, he still went for it! Kyles last summer was filled with golden, happy days. He was well enough to travel, play golf, wakeboard, celebrate birthdays and weddings, enjoy his friends, and be at the lake. He recognized these blessings and savoured them. Kyle was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He was proud to be part of the Mackies Island family. He had a beautiful smile, and loved to laugh. He was forgiving and tolerant. He was a compassionate humanitarian with a passion for individual rights. He was also fearless and heroic in his battle against his disease. Kyle was enormously proud of his little sister Meredith. He protected her from all that he could, and cheered for her always. Thank you to the staff of the Childrens Hospital at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, the St. Boniface Hospital Dialysis Unit, and the Kenora General Hospital, for your kind care to Kyle. We shall always be grateful for the special dedication shown by Julie Duncan, Dr. Stephen Henry, and the staff of the Emergency Rooms at both the St. Boniface Hospital and Kenora Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kidney Foundation, the Kyle Sutton Hawryluk Memorial Fund, or the charity of your choice. There will be a viewing and prayer service at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, September 6 at the Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. A Celebration of Kyles life will take place at Grant Memorial Baptist Church, Wilkes and Waverley, on Thursday September 6 at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
