EILEEN LEWIS Gathering of Remembrance 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2001, The Manitoba Club, 194 Broadway. Eileen Lewis passed away on August 31, 2001 surrounded by those who loved her. She would "like everyone to smile, smile until your cheeks are red". Eileen was a "real-life angel". Every day in the world around us, real life angels are doing the things they do...and bringing more smiles to the world around them. Real Life Angels: Build bridges instead of walls. Dont play hide and seek with the truth, and they dont have hidden agendas. Tend to be the only ones who know what youre going through. If they sense you are hurting, they do whatever they can to help you. Understand difficulties and always give the benefit of the doubt. Dont hold others up to standards they cant live by themselves. Are what "inner beauty" is all about. Dont hold things against you, the only thing they hold...is you. Take your hand in theirs when you could use a little assurance. Walk beside you when you could do with a little guidance and direction in your life. Support you in your attempts to do what is right. Multiply your smiles and add to your integrity. Make you feel like "Hey, I really am somebody who matters." Then they quietly prove to you how beautiful and true that feeling really is. If you have come across an angel like this, you are one of the luckiest people of all. Those of you, who have had your life "touched" by this remarkable woman, know her many unique achievements and accomplishments. A gathering of her many friends and her loving family will take place at The Manitoba Club, 194 Broadway, on September 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend to reminisce, celebrate and toast the life of an exceptional lady and friend who contributed so much to her world and the people in it. Eileen is survived by her loving husband Stan Newman, son Cory Lewis, daughter-in-law Nancy Rettie and her "favourite guys" - grandsons, Nick and Hunter, sister Sharon Stanley and brother Clair Nygard of Whiterock/Surrey, BC, and many nieces and nephews. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is smiling and her cheeks are red.

Oh how sad I am to see this so late - so many years after Eileen's passing. I worked with her at Checkerboard Realty - she was my boss. What a wonderful, strong, funny and inspiring woman. The laughs we had. She was quite demanding of all around her but I loved that about her. She was elegant and charming. She adored her son. I left Winnipeg a long time ago and was glad to return to England but I often think of this kind and intelligent lady with great fondness. May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Mary (Friend (Ex Personal Assistant)) on: Apr 04, 2017
