GERTRUDE BERNARDIN (nee CARRIERE) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and wife, Gertrude, at Tache Centre, Winnipeg, at the age of 85 after a lengthy illness. She will be missed by her husband Andre, by her daughter Jacqueline Dandonneau (Henri), and her son Rene of Ile Perreault, PQ. She also leaves her brothers, Oswald (Lucile), Rosaire (Irene), Bernard (Jeannine). Also brothers and sisters-in-law, Therese Carriere, Therese and Orland Smith, Barney Bernardin, Therese Laroche; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gertrude was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Laura Carriere; her sister Liliane; her brothers, Florio, Armand, Albert, Edouard, and Lionel. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, Amelia and Gabriel; also a brother-in-law Charles. Gertrude will be remembered for her "joie de vivre" and devotion to her family. After having resided in Dorion, PQ, for 17 years, she moved back to her beloved Manitoba. There she enjoyed the many summers spent with her family at the cottage in Traverse Bay. Gertrude (Gertie) was an accomplished seamstress, cook and gardener. We will remember her for her hospitality, sense of humour and boundless energy. With her husband and children, she travelled all through Canada, the States, and Europe. The family would like to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation for their compassionate care to the staff of Ward 2C at Tache Centre. Very special thanks to Mary and Thelma. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at the St. Boniface Cathedral on Friday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Foundation of Canada at 204 - 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5, or to a charity of your choice.
