Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIE LOUISE LAKATOS It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our beloved mother and grandmother Sophie on September 4, 2001. Sophie is survived by her daughter Louise (Delbert) Reid and son John; granddaughters, Deborah (friend Chris Cote), Laurene and Sheryl (friend Archibald Nartey). She also leaves surviving her sister Patsy Bagamery of Winnipeg, brothers, Joe (Margaret) Kadash of Regina, SK, Louis (Mary) Kadash of Kennedy, SK, Charles Kadash of Winnipeg and James Kadash of Brandon; brother-in-law Calvin Toth of Langbank, SK; and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Vi Lakatos of Winnipeg and Julia Kadash of Kipling, SK. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, John in March of 1999, her youngest son James in April of 1995, mother Barbara, father Charles, in-laws, Julia and Andrew Lakatos; sisters, Irene and Bertha; brothers, Alex and John; brothers-in-law, Andrew (Bondy) and Ben Lakatos, Louis Bagamery, August Horvath, and Joe Szakacs; and sisters-in-law Bessie Horvath and Eleanor Kadash. Sophie was born in Bekevar, SK on February 12, 1919, but lived in Hnausa, MB after her marriage in 1941. Sophie and John farmed for most of their married life and lived on the farm yard until Johns death. Her last two years were spent at the Icelandic River Lodge in Riverton. Mom will be fondly remembered for her delicious meals, Hungarian dishes, baking, sewing skills, dozens of baby quilts enjoyed by nieces, nephews and friends for "over 50 years", her keen sense of humour, her wonderful kind nature, generosity, her non-judgemental acceptance of people, her beautiful flower gardens, and the canasta games. She worked diligently with the Lutheran Church women and for the Hnausa Community Club for many years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8 at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Trudy Sluth officiating. Viewing will be held prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Hnausa Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be her nephews, and her granddaughter, Laurene. Our sincere thanks to Barb Halyk, Mary Einarson, Donny Andruschak, and moms "family" at the Lodge. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 149, Riverton, MB, R0C 2R0 or the Hnausa Cemetery Fund, in care of R. Palsson, box 716, Riverton, MB, R0C 2R0 would be appreciated. We will miss you Mom/Grandma (Nagymama). May you be at peace now with Dad/Grandpa.
