MICHAEL (MICKY) OTTENBREIT Surrounded by the love of his family and with his daughters at his side, Micky Ottenbreit rejoined his beloved wife Maizie on September 5, 2001 at the Concordia Hospital. Dad was born in Grayson, SK, on April 12, 1919, the fourth child of Michael and Appolonia Ottenbreit. Dad proudly served his country during the Second World War as a tank commander in the South Alberta Regiment. He was awarded a medal by King George VI at Buckingham Palace for bravery and distinguished service in the battle of Falais Gap in France. After the war, Dad and Mom returned to Grayson to farm, leaving the farm in 1949 to settle in Winnipeg for the rest of their lives. Dad was employed by Burns Meats for 34 years. Dad was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, infant daughters Marilyn and Linda in 1948, infant son Andrew in 1950, adopted son Charles in 1998, and his beloved wife of 54 years, Maizie, in 1998. Left to remember with great affection are his daughter Elizabeth and granddaughter Kathleen with partner Kathryn of Winnipeg, son Michael and Claudette, grandsons, Michael and Stephen of Winnipeg, son William and Helen, grand-daughters, Caitlyn and Brianna of Quesnel, BC, daughter Mary and Iris of Winnipeg, two brothers, Brad (Barb), Joe (Jean), and one sister Evelyn and their families, all of Saskatchewan. Also many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. Most importantly his poodle Sunny who brought him great happiness. The family would like to thank the home care workers who cared for Dad since 1998, especially Helen Lavoie, Dr. Neufeld and staff at Kingsford Medical Centre, staff at Concordia Hospital, the staff at Henderson Salisbury and a special thanks to Don and Marg for being such good neighbours for 35 years and other neighbours who kept an eye out for him. Cremation has taken place; at Dads request, there is no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dads favourite charity, The Winnipeg Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
