Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIP E. PELLETIER February 26, 1927 - September 5, 2001 Philip Eugene Pelletier of Winnipeg died suddenly but peacefully close to his loved ones, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. He leaves to mourn two sons, Leo (Darlene) of Port Alberni, Gerry (Suzanne) of Lorette and three daughters, Michele (Tom) Baril, Kris "Rose" Ryan and Susanne Pascal of Winnipeg. He will be deeply missed by his best friend Sigrid Carlson. He is also survived and remembered by 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and the mother of his children Maria Doucette of Kamloops; surviving siblings are Germaine Philips of Vancouver, Helen Lamb and Theresa Stewart of Thunder Bay and brother Edward of Moncton. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lea of Vancouver, a sister Simone of Sudbury and two brothers, George of Chilliwack and Henry of Swift Current. Philip was raised near Thunder Bay. He worked for the CNR as an agent-operator for 38 years in various locations (Chilliwack, Rivers, St. Laurent, Vassar, St. Jean Baptiste, Gravelbourg, Symington). He retired in Winnipeg in 1982. Philip was a deeply sensitive soul who loved nature and beauty with the heart of an artist. His faith and spirituality enabled him to overcome the troubled times of his life. In recent years, he treasured his hard-won sobriety and he walked day by day with his God through his many health challenges. Phil loved a good joke; he always had new ones to share with great humour. He was very grateful, as are his family and friends, for the warmth and kindness of Riverview staff of E-2; he delighted in the card-playing foursome and the Huff and Puff club. He was a private man who blossomed quite beautifully in these last years through the love, the warmth and the caring surrounding him from family, friends, home care and hospital staff. Prayers will be held with Sister Pauline Lagasse, Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m., at Edward Coutu Funeral Chapel at 680 Archibald; a funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Ron Leger at Holy Family Church at 778 Archibald. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to one of Philips favourite charities Centre Miriam Center Inc. Be near me O God Beloved of the innocent Mother of the frightened child Guardian of the truth Into your hands I commend my spirit... IN CARE OF ARRANGEMENTS: EDWARD J. COUTU LTD.
