RAYMOND DOUGLAS SUMNER, SR. Peacefully, at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB, Raymond Douglas Sumner Sr., of Little Saskatchewan, passed away at the age of 65 years. Ray leaves to mourn his sons, Ray (Rosemary) Sumner Jr. and George (Dinah) Anderson; daughter Rita Parenteau (friend Wallace) special grandchildren, Maryann Sumner and Marty, whom he raised as his own children; grandchildren, Chris, Leah, Rene, Cynthia, Clinton, Sonya, Darren, Candace, Dustin, Josh, Susan, George, Darryl, Leslie, Craig, Richard and Rachel; great-grandchildren, April, Cody, James and Nathan; three sisters, Sarah (Ralph) Plantz, Shirley LaPlante and Christine McKenzie; father-in-law Henry George Anderson; special aunt and uncle, Roy and Priscilla Thompson; special aunt Julia McKay and uncle Steve McLean; in-laws, Thomas (Bob) Anderson (Mabel), Walter Anderson, Wilfred Anderson (Yvonne), Hebron Anderson (Delma), Ernest Anderson (Susan), Beatrice Beardy, Melva Traverse (Victor), Olive Marsden (Harold), Irene Parenteau (Terry), Muriel Woodford (Melvin), Lorraine Sumner and Grace Gurski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ray was predeceased by his wife Susan; parents, Ralph and Louisa Sumner; mother-in-law Florence Anderson; daughter Elaine; grandson Leslie; son-in-law Darren Parenteau; brothers, Rodney, George, Clifford, Vernon and Churchill. Ray lived his life mostly in Little Saskatchewan. For a period of time he was in the sanatorium in Ninette, MB. He loved to farm, fish, do carpentry, trap and dig Seneca Root. Ray enjoyed spending time with his buddies, especially the Dzaman boys, the Sklaruk boys and the Kostelnyk boys. Ray was also a band councillor. Ray loved his family and will be always loved and remembered. The family would like to thank all the people who came to visit during his illness. Also, the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital, the Little Saskatchewan Chief and Council for all their love, care and support. Special thanks to Allan and Eleanor McKay, Joyce Abigosis and Wilma Anderson. Wake service will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 8:00 p.m., at the Little Saskatchewan Pentecostal Church. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m., at the Little Saskatchewan Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Gerald Anderson and Jim Anderson officiating.
