LILLY (LIL) BERNTZEN (nee LAURILLA) Suddenly, on Friday, September 7, 2001, Lilly, age 84 years, passed away at Health Sciences Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Norman; her daughter Marit; her parents, two brothers and one sister in Finland. Lil is survived by her three children, Mona Hurak, Mary Young, and Harold (Stefanie) as well as 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Lil came to Canada from Sweden in 1951. She was on staff at the Health Sciences Centre for 24 years, and was a strong advocate for animals and animal welfare. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre, B3 and SICU. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Mary Young officiating. A private inurnment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Lils memory to Heart & Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
