Stella was born February 1, 1924 in Rice Lake, MB. She attended school in Rice Lake and completed her high school education in Dauphin, MB. She went on to teach elementary school for one year at Rice Lake, and then worked for Pulaks General Store in Rorketon. Stella then obtained employment with Canada Safeway in Dauphin. In 1953, she transferred to Winnipeg where she continued her career, receiving her 30-year award in 1983, retiring in 1987. Following her move to Winnipeg, Stella married Michael Atamanchuk on August 30, 1957. Stella was predeceased by her husband Michael; her parents, Nick and Annie Chudyk; her brother John Chudyk; sister Mary and brother-in-law Mike Beyak; sister Zena and brother-in-law Peter Zwarych; nieces Phyllis Warren and Valerie Chudyk; and great-nephew Scott Warren. Left to cherish her memory is her brother Fred and wife Anne Chudyk of Fork River, MB; sister Norma and husband Peter Billay of Winnipegosis, MB; sister Olga and husband Stan Garlinski of Winnipeg; and sister-in-law Anne Chudyk of Dauphin. Stella will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous relatives and friends. Stellas exemplary work ethic and willingness to help others was demonstrated in both her work at Safeway as well as in her personal life with family and friends. Throughout her employment, she received several certificates and awards recognizing her customer service skills and warm, friendly nature. Stella placed others needs ahead of her own, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Everyone enjoyed her delicious baking and cooking, as she always liked to entertain her family and friends. For many years, Stella enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends, and attending church functions as a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Parish. Stella eventually moved to the Lions Manor where she resided for the past six and a half years. There she enjoyed participating in shuffleboard, carpet bowling, bingo, and other activities. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the Lions Manor for their constant care and concern. A special thank you to family and friends who visited Stella in the hospital. Prayers will be offered on Friday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipegosis. Rev.
