OLAFUR THORLACIUS HURDAL July 15, 1911 - September 9, 2001 Peacefully on September 9, Oli passed away at the Ashern Personal Care Home. Uncle Oli was born on the family farm in the Ralph Connor School District. He farmed all his life on the family farm and he always had a flock of sheep around. Ill health forced him into the care home on August of 1998. Uncle Oli celebrated his 90th birthday in July with his close family and friends. Oli is survived by his sister, Ardney (Russell) Lairy of Montana; brothers, Chris (Irene) of California, Thor (Merle) of Langley, B.C.; close friends, Richard and Hughena Neel of Minnedosa, MB; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Oli was predeceased by his parents, father Hjortur, and his mother Sigga, sisters Johanna Anderson, Lava Hurt of California, and Gwen McDougall of Ashern. In accordance to Uncle Olis wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A private interment will be held at the Betel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery at Silver Bay. We would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Ashern Personal Care Home for their excellent care they gave Uncle Oli over the years.
